I’d have to cut the wires. Mine is hardwired. I can understand Reptillous. They are indeed noisy.

Arf, yes, my new home has hard wired smoke alarms, and boy howdy, when there’s a kitchen incident, they drive me mad haha.

What I discovered was I could pop a thin, plastic grocery bag over the offending smoke alarm if it goes off due to my bad cooking. No smoke reaching its sensor, it shuts off the alarm in a few seconds.

Those detectors are horrible until they warn you that you turned on the wrong burner and that empty pot on the “other” burner is about to ignite.
