Brass Ep. 14
Copper hadn’t seen anyone in months, but the stock had been going missing from stores she passed. She could understand folk emptying the pharmacies. But televisions disappearing troubled her.
The list of items she couldn’t get anymore was growing. She knew if she stayed here much longer she wasn’t going to be able to repair herself.
She sighed as she looked up the North road out of town. It had been blocked by a truck carrying snooker equipment. It had overturned and spilt its load.
The cues went back for miles.

hah. the word snooker made this amerikansky look up an old mitchell and webb clip. cues is a much better word than lines. lines are already terrible why not be british and euphemistic and call them cues. much more civilized. noses to the left! cheers.

Hah. I never knew they were called lines in the USA. I assumed the world over called them a cue.

I’m sure there are folk that use it (cue queue or however) but the word ‘line’ is a lot more common. ‘Standing in line’, ‘get in line’, etc. Seems to be a trend towards minimalism in US casual English. Often my conversations consist of dude, gunt 1, wow, grunt 3.5, nice, like, like like, woah. Which I loathe and love simultaneously.

Good comment Alex but the best part is that it is better said than read. That is if you spell one of them ‘queue’ and the other \cue’.

I know! Hah..i realized that after I checked google five minutes after posting. I felt I’d let my mistake sit and simmer and burn real good and proper, rather than correcting it, and not feeling that sweet purging shame. OPUS DEI!
