Lucy

He stood on the ledge. A wave of dizziness washed over him, he did a 2-step stagger, but remained upright.

“Once it’s done,” said Jake, “I get my old life back?”

“Of course,” said Lucy.

He looked at the concrete blanket beneath him. Closing his eyes, he took his last step.

She peered over the ledge, watching a red stain blossom below.

“Should have specified which old life you wanted back,” grinned Lucy.

Fawn

“The missus wants me to work through the Kama Sutra,” said Deer.

“Nice,” said Fawn.

“Would be if I was younger,” sighed Deer.

“Oh dear,” snickered Fawn.

“She says if I don’t do page 37 with her tonight she’s going to leave me,” grumbled Deer.

“Well that puts you in an awkward position,” giggled Fawn.

Fit

“Gotta keep fit,” said Sprite.

“Uhuh,” mumbled Spectre.

“You know,” interrupted Hydra, “my gran started walking ten thousand steps a day when she was 50.”

“Really?” asked Spectre.

“Yup,” replied Hydra. “She’s 97 now, and we don’t know where the feck she is.”

Routes

“OK,” said Serpent, “I really think this route was too long.”

“We couldn’t have taken the main road,” grumbled Hydra.

“So you say,” grouched Serpent.

“It was a pretty major traffic accident,” snapped Hydra.

“It was a frickin’ ice cream van,” hissed Serpent.

“Yeah,” replied Hydra, “but the street was coned off.”

Spirit Animals

“The illustrator wants to include me in a tale,” sighed Susan.

“Oh, you too?” asked Mermaid.

“Yeah,” moaned Susan. “He was badgering me during my spirit animal class.”

“Ah,” gasped Mermaid. “What is your spirit animal?”

“Flamingo,” replied Susan.

“Nice,” approved Mermaid.

“Yeah,” continued Susan. “You know, I had to put my foot down.”

Psychic

“Pretty good, man,” said Bug, “how’s you?”

“Not bad man, on the lookout though,” replied Spectre.

“How come?” asked Bug.

“Just been to see a psychic,” said Spectre. “She warned me someone will swindle me out of money today.”

“Yikes!” exclaimed Bug.

“I know right,” said Spectre. “Best £800 I ever paid.”

Mate

“You’ll have to excuse Sid,” said Elephant.

“S’alright,” said Fish, “why is he in such a bad mood?”

“Been the victim of ID theft,” said Elephant.

“Oh dear,” said Fish.

“Mhmm” nodded Elephant. “Now he’s just called S.”

January

You noticed the decrease in grammar and spelling mistakes right? We had an editor attack our tales. I have been asked on social media if I am going to release the Little Fears as an art book. Well, yes, I will. In a couple of months time I hope to release the Little Fears in full paperback form. But for that, good grief did I need an editor.

Slightly exciting in the mean time though, Little Fears – January. The collected Little Fears tales of the first 3 months. Currently on pre-order, available from the 22nd of March.

£2.99 for the UK on Amazon.co.uk

$3.65 for the USA on Amazon.com

I get about 70p per sale due to image size and bandwidth used on Amazons end. So if you fancy having us on your tablet or kindle, you can help fuel the illustrator on cups of tea.

If you want to wait for the paper edition, I can tell you it will be closer to £10 due to the colour images, and will be available in May.

If you just want to support the Little Fears, you can also head over to our Patreon page, where for as little as $1 a month you can contribute to Hydras food bill.

Thank you for being a wonderful audience and allowing me to indulge in my scribbles and stories on the internet.

Bird

“Sorry to hear that, Pterodactyl” said Yuffie.

“What’s up?” asked Fuen.

“I just told my man I was leaving him because of his ‘Who Wants To Be a Millionaire’ obsession,” grumbled Pterodactyl.

“Oh dear,” said Fuen. “What did he say?”

Pterodactyl sighed. “Is that your final answer?”

Under

“He’s hiding from me,” growled Yuffie.

“Why?” gasped Spectre.

“Because he sold me a thesaurus,” grumbled Yuffie, “but when I checked it, all the pages were blank.”

“Oh dear,” said Spectre.

“I have no words to describe how angry I am,” said Yuffie.
