Lost Leads – ep. 10
Lily cocked her head, “did you hear that?”
“A hissing,” replied Sally, “where’s it coming from?”
Lily opened the cupboard. “Cripes, a snake!”
Sally grabbed a broom for protection. “Is it a dangerous breed?”
“Well,” said Lily, “it looks like the snake is exactly 3.14 metres long.”
“What’s that mean?” asked Sally.
“It’s a pi-thon,” replied Lily.

3.14 metres long. A Pi-thon. Pi is 3.14. 🙂

Pi is not an exact number. It is a non-ending decimal. But, loved the pun anyway and the nod to my fav school subject, math!

Everyone else in comments gets the gag, so I’m really not worried about it. 🙂

If it was EXACTLY 3.14 meters than it wasn’t pi and, by extension, wasn’t a pi-thon. I hope somebody in editing got fired over THAT!!!

Everything around us is rounded to the nearest something. As pi extends, it becomes smaller to the point of irrelevance*. Get out a ruler and find 141.59265359 mm. After 2 decimal points, your pencil lead is broader than the difference from there to the end of pi. Besides, the snake will molt and no longer be funny.
*For most men, four beers erode enough concern that beauty becomes irrelevant.
