Super sorry if you’ve been getting notifications of old posts being published today everyone.
Went a bit mad this week as repair work on the website, post WordPress 5.0 update came to demotivated stand still. An hour or two a day of repairs until March wasn’t working for me. So I just spent the last three days working on repairing as much as I could. I’m 45 hours into repairs. About 5 more hours of repairs to go I think. Found a stack of extra problems with the Gutenberg import.
Also found if I drafted an old post then set it to published again it sent out a publication notice to every channel, email and social media with no option of not doing so. The usual bit you publish that has options to share to all social networks was actually greyed out. How silly is that. I published a few posts before realising they were appearing on my Twitter and Tumblr and people were leaving comments on the blog like they were new posts.
Pretty livid about the whole thing but the bulk of the work is done now. Crack a beer open with me and cheer as it means I’m going to have more time than expected to work on new Fears.
Cheers for sticking with me as always everyone. I’m so glad you all still enjoy a smidgeon of fear-filled humour every morning, with me, here. Have a great Sunday everyone!
I love all of your posts, even if they repeat.. and I am a bit frightened up the 5.0 update..

Cheers! Have a good read up and upgrade on a dummy account first if you have any concerns. Mine was a particular set of circumstances that led to my disaster. It should never been able to happen, but it’s not going to happen to everyone.

Heh, check it out first on a dummy account. Do a bit of reading on any concerns you may have. My situation ws caused by a very particular set of circumstances. Shouldn’t have happened. but it won’t happen to everyone.

45 hrs. OMG! And you know what you’re doing, I’m so screwed!

What happened to me shouldn’t happen to everyone. Make a dummy account with a dummy name on WordPress.com, import your website via WordPress import/export tool. Not only will you have a backup but you can have a quick check of your website before you upgrade in a safe place of no consequence.

I think I tried 5.0 and went back to classical mode x

Going back to classic wasn’t an option for me as the XML import was what caused the problem. However this update went down, my website was going to tank.

I still don’t understand half of what it means and don’t know what an XML import is but it sounds difficult x

I don’t mind repeats – if I haven’t read it recently, it’s like visiting with an old friend I haven’t seen in a while. π

I often miss the old gang when focussing on new characters. Reckon you can relate to that. You’re as into your own characters as much as I am to mine. Not having one in a story for a long time tugs at the heartstrings a bit, eh?

How true! And such grief the characters give you when you have them sit on the sidelines too long! They get absolutely unbearable! π

No complaints, but a bit of sympathy. I was surprised at the end of the year that WordPress said I created something like 20 posts simply from doing some page rework.
