“So, why am I here?” asked Meria. “Why have I been stuck on this island for as long as I can remember?”
“Sometimes the dead and their ideas, hopes and dreams can live on in the world between the living and dead until they’re forgotten entirely,” replied Lucy.
“What’s that got to do with me?” asked Meria.
“Well, first of all, you’re dead,” replied Lucy. “Furthermore, you’ve been remembered for over fifty years for the murder of your mother.”

Truth hurts, eh Meria? hehe. 😀
Funny with the Medium class part also. I was just thinking how I was getting annoyed with the bugs here at WP.

Medium will likely never be as big as WordPress (WP runs a huge chunk of the internet & has domain names), but I still like it as a publishing platform. The community is mad active, though you need to dive in and get commenting for people to find you. But the no adverts and being able to earn from your writing is a huge bonus. WordPress actively goes against that, by dumping google ads everywhere and not allowing sales on their platform unless a fee is paid. Blah.
Two different animals with two different motives? Give it a go. You might like it.

I still see pluses to WordPress, BUT, I’m beginning to see that “too big to care” mentality that I see from mega-corporations everywhere.

I think the WordPress 5.0/Gutenberg thing really threw a spanner in the works for a lot of us. As well as, for self hosters, the duplication of all images to all sizes for site speed. It’s savaged my storage space. I need to export my entire site into a WordPress.com site at some point and change my home page to a basic profile for a while due to hosting fees this year. Utterly sucks. It’s the third massive overhaul I’ll have done in a year thanks to WP’s direction. I’ve also lost subscribers so many times now. I was on 55k a few months back. Now I’m back down to 30k’ish.
I’ll be staying on WordPress as the community is still great here. I never seem to come across the toxic side, thankfully. But my relationship with WP will be less… Dependant, haha.

Method to the madness. always with evil mega corporations. If they don’t savage your storage space, how can they sell you more?

I’ve been thinking about checking Medium out too. I think if you can build your own domain with a decent amount of traffic, it doesn’t really matter if the publishing tool you use is popular or not because people will just be going to your site. However, how does one get traffic… lol

They stopped offering domains a couple of years back, but, the SEO on Medium is insanely good. Back when I included the complete text of each story across all social media, if you ever searched ffor the text in my posts, Medium would always be higher than my home page.
On Medium, you can get traffic to your posts by being an active commentator and writing high-quality articles for the staff to pick up and drop in featured.

Good thought provoking theme.
Infamy vs celebrity? I wonder which retains more remembrance power?

Thanks, Anony. Sometimes, I guess we hope people don’t remember us after death, heh.
