Pocket Calculators

Grey Moon – Monday (ep. 8)

“Well I don’t like them,” moaned Yuffie. “They’re just too small.”

“Well yes,” said Reala, “but they’re still useful.”

“What’s that?” asked Fuen.

“Pocket calculators,” replied Reala.

“What’s the point of them?” asked Yuffie. “I have never been in a situation where I can’t count the number of pockets I have.”

A wee thanks to Esme for her recent review of Seeking Hydra.

Backward Maps

Grey Moon – Monday (ep. 6)

Fuen jumped as her phone beeped.

“Is that a new phone?” asked Reala.

“Looks like it,” laughed Yuffie. “Mine’s been overdue an upgrade as long as Fuen’s.”

“Hey, check it out,” said Fuen. “I have an email here saying Google can now read maps backwards.”

“Oh, that’s just spam,” said Reala.

Forgotten Rooms

He walked past the graffiti-laden walls, 36 steps, turn left, 42 steps, right wall.

Someone had stolen the bench. He felt the wall and floor. Click. The wall slid to the right. The dust drifted upwards on the disturbed air.

Nobody had found this room. It must have been 20 years. The door marked by them clawing from the inside. He could hear their screams. He could smell their fear. He would never forget. How could he?

Now they’d led him back here. The door closed quietly behind him.

Lady Lozenge

Grey Moon – Monday (ep. 5)

Yuffie shook out the newspaper. “Oh, that’s a shame.”

“What’s that?” asked Fuen.

“The lady who invented the throat lozenge has passed away,” replied Yuffie.

Reala and Fuen gave Yuffie a moment.

“It says here that there will be no coffin at the funeral.”

Elephant Room

Grey Moon – Monday (ep. 4)

“Mind if I order on a tab?” asked Yuffie.

“Sure,” replied Reala. “Running a bit short?”

“Yeah, I bought Fuen an elephant for her room,” said Yuffie.

“Hey, yes, thanks for that,” said Fuen.

“Don’t mention it,” replied Yuffie.

Train Journeys

The train rocked. She woke.

“Look at me,” came a voice from the other end of the carriage. A lone passenger, watching her.

She avoided his gaze and stared out the window. She couldn’t place where the train was. Too dark outside.

“Look at me,” he said.

He was close, two seats up the carriage, moving towards her. She peered back out the window.

“Look at me,” he said, sitting next to her. She did.

Denver never did find her eyes.

I do like train related horror… Maybe too many years commuting on London Transport…  A couple more review thanks and shout outs for Seeking Hydra.

500 Injuries

Grey Moon – Monday (ep. 3)

Fuen staggered into the pub.

“You look knackered,” said Reala.

“I know,” sighed Fuen. “I just injured myself walking 500 miles delivering post.”

“Oh dear,” replied Reala.

“The postal company said I had to walk 500 more,” moaned Fuen.

“Injured at work? You could be entitled to compensation,” said Yuffie. “Call the Pro Claimers to find out.”

Popcorn Horror

This weekend, Layne, Alex and I will be watching a good old-fashioned fun, cheap zombie film on Chili Cinema. The George A. Romero classic, Land of the Dead. I know that’s stretching the word classic there… But hey, zombie Eugene Clark and Dennis Hopper!

We’ll be hitting play at 9 pm GMT or 4 pm EST for our American friends, and tweeting like zombie splatter fangirls. You can find our Twitter handles at @Chew_On_Glass, @SynBoomstick and @TheLittleFears.

I do still have some free £5 vouchers to give away for Chili Cinema. No strings attached, just swing by the twitter post linked to below and reply saying you’d like a ticket.

Lincoln Yuffie

Grey Moon – Sunday (ep. 2)

Yuffie wandered into the bar, wearing a stovepipe hat, a waistcoat and a phoney beard. She took a stool at the bar and ordered a pint.

“Going to a party?” laughed Reala.

“A costume party,” replied Yuffie. “I’m supposed to come dressed as my love life.”

“Your love is Abe Lincoln?” asked Reala.

“Yeah,” grumbled Yuffie. “My last four scores were seven years ago.”

Serving String

Just then, a piece of string walked into the bar.

“Oh hell no,” yelled Reala, “I don’t serve pieces of string here!”

“Darn,” grumbled the piece of string. She wandered back outside, looped herself up and over then tattered her ends up. While straightening her tie she walked back in.

Reala eyed her with suspicion. “Aren’t you the piece of string I threw out a moment ago?”

“No luv,” she replied. “I’m a frayed knot.”
