Yellow Deer

“Deer your puns are awful” cried Sprite.

“Hey,” said Deer, “there is a fine British art to telling a good groaner.”

At that moment, the past and the future approached from opposite directions. Their paths crossed right where Deer and Sprite were standing.

The future bumped into the past, they turned to face each other, growled and postured in a grumpy fashion, then walked away up different paths.

“Wow,” said Deer, “that was tense.”

Sprite whined.

Oh, I loved Deer. A callback to her first appearance and one of my fave esoteric puns. She was in a few stories from my very first series of stories (featured in January) and never really came back. Reckon she looks right against a sunburst of Lemon Yellow for this weeks #Colour_Collective.

Her portraits also available on the Little Fears Etsy store: littlefears.etsy.com

Mean Green

It’s a Cinnabar Green for this weeks #Colour_Collective and I’m chucking out some whiskered vibes. Been dipping into Skyrim this week and keep seeing Skeevers. Big ratty things. Whatever I was drawing this week was gonna have whiskers.

Not sure what to name a big, ratty, magic Fear… Murophobia is a fear of mice and rats, so maybe Muriol?

Trouble

Straight up, I don’t do elves. The fancy ones are always ‘considerably richer than you!’ The woodland ones are always naked running through trees and eating berries. The dark ones… Well… They eat peoples hamsters.

I can read stories with them in, just fine. But I can’t write them myself. Heck, I can’t play them in games either. I was never an elf in my 80s Dungeons and Dragons/Heroquest/Warhammer quest days.

I’ve tried giving elves a go in computer games. In Morrowind, Ultima Online, Everquest, Second Life and recently Skyrim. I just can’t jive with them. Though weird thing, I can jive with other non-human critters. Skyrims lizardmen and cat-people (argonians and khajits?) I can piddle about with.

So, yeah, for this weeks #Colour_Collective I’d like to present a trouble of elves. That’s what a group of them is called right?

Oo and the terror-dactyls flying overhead are quite a popular tee on my Threadless store.

Swarm

A bit of a swarm for this weeks #Colour_Collective.

A couple of Fearful things today. First, I believe I’ve responded to everyone who emailed me about a collaboration. If I haven’t replied to you yet, or if you want to collaborate with me, drop me an email to fears@gmx.co.uk and poke me.

I know some of you are waiting on images and audio. I got most of it done yesterday and I’ll be spamming out emails to everyone later today.

Second thingy. I mentioned about a month ago Brexit had finally taken its toll on the companies I’d been getting regular work from. I’ve helped two of them close this last week. Distributing the websites, social media accounts, hosting and all promotional media too other companies buying up the broken-up brands. I’ll be helping to dismantle the company I worked at for 17 years later in the year too. Boy howdy, do I hate Brexit and both major political parties in the UK, right now.

The upshot is I’ll have a lot of time on my hands and work to replace. If anyone needs to hire an artist/designer/writer/vocal bloke for anything, from blog logo design too growling the audio for a YouTube video, poke me. Happy to work for individuals, brands, companies and packs of mutton-chop wearing rockabilly lobsters.

Thanks to Warren for the $10 Patronage.

Gloom

Tried something different for #Colour_Collective this week. Still the portrait format, but… Different…

It works… kinda… I don’t know… Haha! Hey, I gotta mix em up right?

Shout out to Bob, the Penguin for buying me another cuppa ko-fi. You’re keeping me stocked with tea here man! Also, thanks to Warren for the $10 Patronage.

Serenity

Serenity Blue for this weeks #Colour_Collective. I’m doing a lot of bland ones at the moment. I think I’ll keep doing them for a few more weeks, If I continue to feel uninspired, I’ll change them out for something else colour based. Maybe like the Saturday doodles I’ve posted on Twitter a few times?

Thanks to Warren for the $10 Patronage.

Yellow Fluff

A very fluffy yellow portrait for this weeks #colour_collective. This week’s colour is Cadmium Yellow Pale.

Getting near the end of an alphabet with these names. I need to give this gal a name beginning with Y. Yuri? Yelli? Yurellow? Help me out here gang! haha.

Thanks to Warren for the $10 Patronage.

Darkness

The last #Colour_Collective of the year. Please say hello to Darkness. A mean arse arachnid-like monster from the Capricorn horror stories. It’s a character I’ve had for ages and I’ve never known how to present her. Turns out, giving her some spots and hanging her from a thread of web was the perfect way to present her.

It would appear, we’re one day away from new years eve. So, this is new years eve-eve, right? Or Hogmanay as they seem to call it in my new local town.

There are things I wanted to be done before the new year started that I haven’t managed. I’m still fixing the website. I’ve managed to repair about 100 posts with another 700’ish to go. Crab nabbit, that WordPress 5.0 update has mauled me. It’s taking me 5 hours for every 30 posts. Even then not all of them are working thanks to Gutenburgs… Quirks…

I’d say it’s easier to make new posts of all the old stories and mass delete the old ones. But then I could kiss goodbye to two years worth of SEO, search rankings and imagine all those links posted across social media going nowhere… Urgh. Oh well. Suck it up and get on with it.

I never managed to update my Etsy shop either (Obligatory link: etsy.com/uk/shop/LittleFears ). I have 24 new art prints, fresh from Moo, with a new and lovely card smell and none of them made it onto Etsy from a month ago.

I have to overhaul my Patreon and Ko-Fi too. When someone buys me a cuppa from Ko-Fi from now I’ll be linking to them in the footer of the next story post as thanks. Same with Patreon. I’ve always given new patrons a shout out, but I have very little support there. A few awesome Feary diehards. But otherwise, I get one new Patron a month. Then usually lose one in exchange, haha. Maybe I should be putting the weekly $10 into a daily $10 shout out. I’ve always thought if I ever got popular, that would asplode my post footers though. I’ll figure something out.

Though speaking of which…

With special thanks.

Weekly shout out to my $10 patron, Warren from IWrite. Without people like Warren, I wouldn’t be able to wake you all with my little fears and you’d probably cry a lot less in the morning than you already do. So please do check out Warrens blog.
