Occidental

Story by Sue

Seren woke feeling discombobulated. She recalled uncomfortable sensations of dry heat, crinkling popping noise and falling, dishevelled, broken.

She lay quite still assessing this situation: A soft voice murmuring, but only one voice. The rise and fall of the intonation soothed Seren. A silken blanket wrapped around her, lifting her.

Gentle expertise lowered her brokenness into a refreshing, warm bath. Perfumed aromas filled her spirit and she sighed.

Thoroughly relaxed, she focused on the voice until she was able, finally to hear; “After an accident Eastern Serendipity!”

On review, this must be what my missus sees when I emerge from the duvet and burp my first belch of the day.

I tried some different nibs for this beast. The missus has approximately 400.

Million. 400 million.

Yeah, we’re chalk and cheese there. I have two little pen pots at most. The missus has twenty plus drawers of paints, brushes, inks and pens.

Nobbled the missus dip pens while I wait for my mine to arrive. Boy howdy, they’re going to take some getting used too.

There’s no lizard pun to accompany this beast today. I felt the need to scale back.

Bus Stop

“How did you get to this island?” asked Spectre. “You didn’t come with me, and I didn’t tell anyone I was coming here.”

“I’m not sure,” pondered Sprite. “I remember waiting at a dirty bus stop next to a lobster with breast implants. One was a crusty bus station, and the other a busty crustacean.”

They chuckled together. Sprite squeezed Spectres shoulder. “Please, don’t walk up the road.”

Kaijune – 19

Going with some Godzilla vibes today.

Ink’s nearly run out of all my Faber-Castells. *Sniff* They are bloody expensive and I am conscious of how much plastic I could be saving by moving onto a dip pen. I’m currently eyeing up the Speedball sketching set and Kuratake ink. I’ve tried the missus Speedballs. They are easy to use and forgiving. That’s something I need as I am a scruffy doodler.

Doll Road

“It can’t be the road to the afterlife,” called Sprite as he chased after Spectre.

Spectre was already across the road and marching through a cornfield. “What the heck?”

As Sprite caught up, he saw Spectre standing on another road. Spectre was looking at a line of plastic dolls. They led to a pile of coal with an iron grate on top.

“Hey,” laughed Sprite, “it’s a Barbie queue!”

Egyptian

As the trees cleared, Spectre sighed. “How did we come back to the road?”

“It must loop around the island,” pondered Sprite. “Is that a pyramid?”

“Looks like a car park in the shape of a pyramid,” replied Spectre.

“Well look at that,” said Sprite reading the sign outside. “Toot and come in.”

Tree Read

“Books growing on trees,” noted Spectre. “That’s new.”

“Oh, hey,” said Sprite. “Did you hear, our old library’s ordered the new book on small willies.”

“Is it in yet?” asked Spectre.

“Yes,” said Sprite, “that’s the one!”

Calories

“Why build a road on an empty island?” pondered Spectre.

“Maybe it’s for wildlife trying to get fit,” remarked Sprite.

Spectre hopped off the tarmac and headed into the forest. “I don’t think animals care about calories.”

“I guess not,” replied Sprite. “Lucy said you once burned 2,000 calories in an hour.”

“Yeah,” sighed Spectre. “I left a cake in the oven too long.”

Skidding in a bit late this morn… After… Evening… Ruddy ‘eck, I am late today!

Mile Marker 26

Story by Ruth

All the silent letters gathered at the Overpass one day, roiling with discontent.

The First “R” in Sarsaparilla exclaimed, “We’re not being heard!”

“If you’re not going to use me, I’ll just go back to the herd,” said The “A” in Heard.

But another protest had already been scheduled for that morning. It was the Misunderstood Phrases Consortium.

“I suppose if a king were doing sit-ups, it would be correct, but please do not call me ‘Regime,’ said Fitness Regimen. “That’s not my name.”

If they’re all there, their tempers will be flaring! You’re sure to see your sentences in fragments.

Legend has it that it all went down at Mile Marker 26. All because they didn’t want to fall through the cracks.

This weeks collaboration was written by the one they call, Auntie Ruth. Two things that aren’t a crash of letters are her blogs. You can find her at grace-gratitude.blog and praypower4today.wordpress.com. Cheers, Ruth!
