Interpret Hope

Brass Ep. 81

“I should tell you,” said Fuen. “As creations of the living, how we carry on past the expiration of our creators, differs for everyone. Yuffie showed Hydra to a bunch of artists to keep his memory alive. He grew from three foot tall to twelve foot tall. It’s all about how the living interprets and remember the ideas, hopes and dreams of the dead.”

“Like critics looking for meaning in a hundred year old painting,” pondered Copper. “When sometimes, the artist just wanted to paint a boat.”

“Exactly,” remarked Fuen. “However we’re interpreted, good ideas are worth keeping alive, aye?”

Last Hopes

Brass Ep. 80

“If we’re just thoughts, perhaps should decay with this island,” mused Copper.

“What if you’re a hope? A dream? A movement?” replied Fuen.

“So we could be anything a human can dream up?” asked Copper. “Including thoughts of envy, jealousy and hate.”

“You could also be the last thoughts of a good but broken human,” pointed out Fuen. “That’s why you should keep telling jokes.”

Last Laughs

Brass Ep. 78

“You two enjoy a joke then,” observed Fuen.

“We laugh at everything,” sighed Copper. Iron mewed.

“Keep laughing,” remarked Fuen. “A sense of humour is so often all we have left.”

“I hadn’t thought of it like that,” pondered Copper.

“Humour holds the universe together,” said Fuen. “Along with duct tape, of course.”

Wine Breath

Brass Ep. 77

Copper reached out of the car window and swiped a bottle of wine up from the sand. She turned it over in her hands. “I remember moments with a lady,” she sighed. “she loved a bottle of wine.”

“Who’s the lady?” asked Fuen.

“I don’t know anymore,” lamented Copper. “She used to believe in giving wine first aid though. She used to say, ‘Open the bottle to allow it to breathe. If it doesn’t look like it’s breathing, give it mouth-to-mouth.’”

Pee Hope

Brass Ep. 76

Copper rummaged through the glovebox then handed Fuen a newspaper article about the vineyard. Fuen scanned down the page. The article said not only did they create some of this countries finest wines, but they also sold grapes for medical research.

“They created an anti-diuretic with their wine to help with incontinence,” pointed out Copper. “Got it branded as well. Pinot More.”

Iron snorted.

Ruff Pup

Brass Ep. 75

Copper spotted the sign for Vale Vineyards. “We’re nearly at Brass.”

“Know this place?” asked Fuen.

“I’d heard of it,” replied Copper. “The owner had a dog trained to sniff wine, checking its quality.”

“I see,” pondered Fuen. “So it was a Bordeaux collie.”

Mere Pause

Brass Ep. 74

Iron re-took the driver’s seat. “Head west,” said Fuen. “My friends waiting on the shores of the peninsula. She’ll get us off this island.”

Copper hesitated at the door. “If what you said is true,” she sighed, “were merely dreams.”

“There’s nothing mere about dreams,” replied Fuen.

Isle Snaps

Brass Ep. 73

“Are we part of that land?” asked Copper.

“No,” replied Fuen. “Well, yes… Maybe. Here’s the thing. Every so often, islands appear off the coast. They pop up, filled with life, then deteriorate and sink into the ocean. Nothing from these lands ever makes it to the mainland. A friend and I just wanted to see what was on one of those islands.”

“Can you stop our land deteriorating?” asked Copper.

“The loss of these islands seems unstoppable,” sighed Fuen. “Like the tides, time or humans posting pointless Facebook updates.”

Cooo, sorry if you haven’t been able to like, comment or have been missing the last few posts in WordPress app this last few days. My JetPack plugin disconnected on the 7.1/2 update and I only noticed last night. Seems the effects have been rather random on a person by person basis. Some folk just haven’t been able to comment. Others haven’t seen my posts pop up for days. While a few folks had no issues whatsoever.

Gotta love JetPack, and all its wonderful quirks.

Bad Ideas

Brass Ep. 72

Fuen pecked around in the boot and tossed out a spare fuse to Iron. “Why were you looking for us?” asked Copper.

“I wanted to see if anyone lived on this island,” sighed Fuen. “Then got myself stuck here.”

“Where did you come from?” asked Copper.

“A place between the world of the living and the lands of the dead. Where hopes, ideas and dreams live until they’re forgotten,” replied Fuen. “We’re hoping the Brits forget about Brexit sometime soon. Bad ideas that big really stink up the place.”

Lost Fuse

Brass Ep. 71

“You don’t look like a machine,” noted Copper.

“I’m not,” replied the bird, hopping onto the car. “I’m Fuen, a bird spirit of sorts. Is thing this still working?”

Iron pulled out a burnt fuse. “Aha, ruddy thing,” said Fuen.

“It’s not the fuses fault,” remarked Copper. “It just couldn’t resist.”
