Soap

“I know,” sighed Red. “But it didn’t just get up and run away!”

“Maybe someone stole it,” pondered Hydra.

“My soap box?” asked Red.

“Spectre looks shifty to me,” replied Hydra.

“Spectre always looks shifty,” grumbled Red. “Who ever stole it made a clean get away.”

Podium

“But it’s a lie,” continued Yuffie. “It always has been, and there are those out there, that continue to believe. They allow themselves to be led. Believing they work for us. While they really take away our health services, our education, our…”

Yuffie looked across the masses, peering up at her. Silently, Idly, with lit faces.

“Our nations current leader is a prat,” she declared.

Rapturous applause.

She sighed and stepped off the podium.

Resist

“The resistance needs to be more open, approachable, and not just shout down our opponents. We need to loose the soap box, drop the insults, and cultivate peoples positive hopes and dreams, whatever end of the political spectrum’s we are on. We all share this earth, and no two people, either side of the fence, are exactly the same.”

~

Last week I submitted 3 pieces the Ello.co x Not For Print resist theme. I do not often do political commentary, I am awful at articulating my opinions. It does not help that I do not fit neatly into any particular category, so I get crap from left, right and center.

I still fight the good fight where I can mind. I have not given up. Even through something as simple as the Fears, I still try to make my voice heard.

The next 3 tales on the Little Fears will relate to the theme Resist. One humorous tale and two character pieces. The need is there to explore this world of the Little Fears.

Semi laid plans

I had some feedback the other day on my personal Twatter from some of you, thanks gang! Mostly positive, but it seems most people like to read a tale in the morning. Funny, weird, horror or whatever. But just one tale in the morning. My plans of 12 posts a week, shall be put back down to 7 tales + 1 blog post a week. More than that and folk either lose track or feel its spamming.

As far as tales go, I am now 270+ tales ahead of today, enough to keep me going until the end of the year. 120’ish horror and 180’ish humor. Though some are unusable or need work. Either way, a change from my post two weeks ago. Sorry to those out there who felt they were getting a barrage of fears!

Fictional Submissions

When submitting fiction to magazines or anthologies they often want content that has not been published anywhere before. In the same breath, they take 3 months to come back to you to tell you if they will use the content or not. So I guess this is an ideal time to put out the distant future tales to magazines and anthologies. Do you know of any magazines or anthology books that could use a Little Fear? Let me know in comments.

Freelancing it

I am sure most of you know, but just a brief reminder. I am currently available for freelance work. I have ended up working as a freelance illustrator. Something I never before saw happening. Though I must confess, I am damn proud of my January book cover.

Man do I love that cover. May look like a scribbled bird, but it has bags of character. Another reminder there, the ebook is going up to £4.99 at the end of this month. Haven’t had time to work on the print edition this week, been a bit mad busy here with non Fears related bits I am afraid.

Tee

I have added Capricorn and Poison to the Little Fears Threadless Tee store. About time I did something with that again.

Spooky lil bugger.

I have 7 of the Fears on Tees on Threadless. All available in a range of colours and styles.

Patreon

Finally, if you would like to support the Little Fears ongoing adventures, head on over to our Patreon page, and help out for as little as $1 a month.

Patreons, you rock!

Phobia

“I couldn’t follow Serpent,” sighed Red.

“Why not?” asked Fuen.

“Developed a phobia of open spaces,” moaned Red.

“I once had a phobia of hurdles,” said Fuen.

“Really?” asked Red.

“Oh yes,” said Fuen. “It’s alright now though. I got over it.”

Oceans

“Son of a badger left me hanging there,” exclaimed Spectre.

“Good grief,” replied Sprite. “What happened?”

“Well I fell,” sighed Spectre. “The current took me 12 mile down stream into an estuary. I grabbed a piece of floating wood, holding on for dear life, and eventually found myself adrift in an ocean of fizzy orange water.”

“Huh,” replied Sprite. “Are you sure it wasn’t a Fanta-sea?”

Crumbs

“No,” said Snake, “I mean restaurants for the Little Fears.”

“Ah,” said Fuen, “I have experience there.”

“Oh really?” asked Snake.

“Yep,” replied Fuen. “I had a bread bar that served crumbled bread to ghost ducks.”

“That’s the one that burnt down right?” asked Snake.

“Yeah,” said Fuen. “My business was toast.”

Hospital

“Man I hate these hospital visits,” sighed Spectre.

“Why is Red here anyway?” asked Sprite.

“He ate a jar of copper coins yesterday,” sighed Spectre.

“Ah,” said Sprite. “How is he today?”

“No change yet,” smirked Spectre.

Owls

“Bloody Owl,” said Globe.

“What’s up?” asked Magpie.

“That chuffing Owl, landed on me, crapped on me, pecked me, regurgitated bones on me then threatened to feed me to his chicks, for no darned reason.”

“Huh,” said Magpie. “Maybe he has irritable owl syndrome?”

Dairy

“You know you have a problem right?” asked Flower.

“I know,” sighed Stem, “I can’t help it!”

Stem downed her third whisky. “Every single time I drive past that field of cows I just cannot help myself. I have to yell abuse at them.”

“Have you ever considered the notion,” began Flower, “that you might be dairy intolerant?”

Tulip

“Nah,” said Tulip, “I’m British.”

“Oh nice,” said Herb. “So you like James Bond films?”

“Oh yeah,” said Tulip. “You know I once saw Max Zorin from a View to a Kill, walking down Oxford Street at Christmas to turn on the London Christmas lights!”

“Nice,” said Herb.

“Yeah,” sighed Tulip. “Was a Walken in a winter wonderland.”
