“She takes the stairs, every single time man,” cried Spectre.
“It’s just one of those things,” sighed Sprite.
“Yeah,” groaned Spectre. “But I always prefer the escalators.”
“Bruv, I don’t mean to sound rude,” said Sprite. “But maybe you were just raised differently.”
Trivia. A fear of slopes or stairs is called bathmophobia. I wonder if there’s a really scared person somewhere naming all the different fears and phobias in the world…

What if your job is to name the fears but you suffer from a fear of naming things?

Ooof. Apparently, onomatophobia is a fear of names. 😀

I was scared of escalators as a kid. It was something enough standing at the top looking down as those stairs moved. One time my fear got so bad, I sat down on the stairs to ride them down. Folks was mad, but at least I was safe lol

Aww, haha. My missus hates them. She never felt right on them. Last year, she went to the optician with me, they tried a new and funky machine on us, and we discovered she has almond shaped eyes. We then got a new house and she has trouble visualizing and walking down the last bit of a steep slope out back. We now think, after a lifetime panicking about escalators, she actually has a visual/balance issue with slopes. Go figure. So sitting down ain’t a bad idea!

Brodie from Mall Rats: “Listen, not a year goes by, not a year, that I don’t hear about some escalator accident involving some bastard kid which could have easily been avoided had some parent – I don’t care which one – but some parent conditioned him to fear and respect that escalator.” Any time I hear the word “escalator” I think of that quote.
