Basalt

This weeks #Colour_Collective is Basalt Grey. I think this lovely lady was just a stone throw away from being perfect. Hah, see that, a geological pun. I just dug that up. Reminds me of a tectonic relationship I once had. There was a lot of friction between us. We both had our faults…

I thank ya…

With special thanks

Weekly shout out to my $10 patron, Warren from IWrite. Without people like Warren, I wouldn’t be able to wake you all with my little fears and you’d probably cry a lot less in the morning than you already do. So please do check out Warrens blog.

Cat Changes

Chasing Leads – ep. 30

“There’s one thing I don’t understand ma’am,” pondered Sally.

“What’s that?” asked Lily.

“Why do you think she grumped about our cat puns?” asked Sally. “She seemed to enjoy kitty based jokes at one point.”

“It’s possible she’s at that age,” pointed out Lily. “Going through the change.”

“Ooooh,” replied Sally. “Yes, I’ve heard the meow-no-paws can be rough.”

Vice Kitty

Chasing Leads – ep. 29

Four police cars, two ambulances, a fire engine and an ice cream van, had arrived.

“Sorry ma’am,” said Sally. “She got the better of me twice!”

“It’s OK inspector,” said Lily. “I’m just glad we’re all still alive.”

Lily stopped a police car as it drove past. She leaned into the back window. “Robyn, I hope this has taught you your cat burgling days are over.”

“It’s given me paws for thought,” sighed Robyn, rattling her handcuffs. “This whole week has been catastrophic…”

Timely Arrival

Chasing Leads – ep. 27

Robyn held a stuffed cat toy in the air. “You know what this is?” she yelled. “It’s a kitty toy with a stick of dynamite in!” declared Robyn. “You’ll never take me alive copper!”

“Now calm down,” said Lily, “ we can talk about this.”

Robyn lifted Sally up and shoved her into the driver’s seat of the car. “Don’t even try to…”

Robyn was cut off, as a lady appeared and thwocked her on the head with a flower pot. As Robyn collapsed in a heap on the floor, the lady tossed the dynamite stick to an empty corner of the car park.

Pop! Bang!

“You…” gasped Sally. “You are… Were…”

“Justine Thyme,” replied the lady. “I own the herb shop over the road.”

Caught You

Chasing Leads – ep. 26

Lily crept across the car park, and standing on a skip, had a peek in the window.

Sally sat in the car adjusting her hat and truncheon when suddenly, Robyn opened the car door. Sally screamed, reaching for her batton, but it was too late. Robyn had Sally in her vice-like grip and was dragging her out of the car.

“Stay right there!” yelled Robyn, Lily froze, watching helplessly from across the car park. “I knew you were onto me. I’ve following you pattern for days. Your cat puns DCI Lily, they are appawling!”

Maxed Cat

Chasing Leads – ep. 26

“This looks like the place,” said Sally. “There’s a herb shop over the road. You don’t think?…”

“Unfortunately, I do. Robyn’s could be psyched up on catnip,” said Lily, pulling into the car park.

“This is going to be a tough arrest,” replied Sally.

“Afraid so,” replied Lily. “We’re going to have to expect maximum cattitude.”

Wine Smells

Chasing Leads – ep. 25

“You’re looking for Robyn aren’t you?” asked Ivana.

“Yes,” replied Lily. “She’s been on the rob again.”

“My ex used to work at a wine company a few years back,” started Ivana. “When they were selling up, I’m sure I saw Robyn nosing around the warehouse. Maybe she bought the property from them. It’s in a quiet area.”

“Thank you,” said Lily. “I remember your ex. She had an excellent nose for wine.”

“The best,” said Ivana. “Shaped just like a corkscrew.”

Spun Globe

Chasing Leads – ep. 24

Sally meandered through the apartment. She took note of a box of calendars and two crates of clocks. There was a vintage globe in the corner of the room. She ambled over to it and gave it a slow spin.

“That was my exes globe,” sighed Ivana. “She passed away the day she finished painting the maps on it.”

“Oh, I’m sorry to hear that,” said Sally.

“It’s OK,” replied Ivana. “It just means the world to me.”
