Erics Roof

“They’re not pests,” cried Eric. “Get off my roof.”

Jim looked down the sight of his air rifle.

“Don’t,” begged Eric.

Jim squeezed the trigger. The pigeons took off and came towards them. He took aim and squeezed again. The gun didn’t fire. His finger crumbled into seeds.

Eric stepped back as the flock descended.

Ahh, I still love the idea of pest control being eaten by pigeons. OK, so that’s a re-hash of the pigeon shamans previous story. Here’s the thing. I put 18 new prints onto my Etsy store. I then didn’t post about them again since listing day.

My problem is, I’m bad at writing marketing copy for my own art. So instead, I figure posting them with stories is better. Kinda… Right?

Oh, and this week, I finally got about to making mocks of all my images in different frames. So hey, I have something to talk about and point too!

Brass Ep. 33

Copper turned away, starting her journey to the city of Brass. Unable to watch her home and old life sink further into the earth. The rot of these lands had hounded her for so long she couldn’t remember what life was like before.

She could visualize scenes, but they never related to her current situation. Copper pans with the lady. Building alongside Iron.

It was like she had a photographic memory. It just never developed.

“Yep,” replied Yuffie. “She’s trying to gather a hunting group of us, all under four foot tall.”

“I see,” replied Fuen. “That’ll be a little party.”

HAH! Boom! Fantasy race puns to the face! Take that, readers!

Awful game. Repetitive grind, all female characters in high heels, all male characters in OTT spikey armour. But, eh, we all have a guilty games pleasure on tablets now, right? Could be worse. Could be Candy Crush or Farmsville…

Brass Ep. 32

As Copper and Iron left the house, it began sinking into the ground. Copper gasped when she realised it was going to take her vintage ladder collection with it.

Iron placed a consolatory claw on Copper’s leg. Her new friend may be a mute, but Copper was glad she wasn’t facing this alone. She knew when this was over she’d be able to rebuild her life and ladder collection.

Like, fo real. Ick, people. Trine, mate, I feel the same.

So my lady Trine here finally has a moment in the spotlight. She first appeared an age in a #Colour_Collective portrait and hasn’t been used for anything since.

I think, when I made her, I was thinking of dinosaurs or birds. Head crests and all. I’m pretty sure if dinosaurs or birds could speak, they’d look at us and say “ick, people”.

“You can’t talk, can you?” sighed Copper as they headed towards the exit. Irons silence offered a reply.

Copper grabbed her Hi-Fi’s keyboard as she left the house. She’d heard voiceless robots would only communicate with keyboards synchronized to musical devices.

She immediately chastised herself. Clearly, that was stereotyping.

James Stafford has just released a new class, and it’s free. He teaches blogging and has taught a few courses before. His student counts are into the thousands and his previous courses are well rated.

His new course has an SEO heavy title, so here we go.

How To Start A Successful Blog And Make Money 2019

Son of a monkey badger, that’s a title… I’ve watched a bit of it and he’s using WordPress and Gutenburg. So it’s pretty relevant to a lot of my WordPress subscribers.

The parts I watched so far were mainly about SEO. My word, that’s something I need help with! I’ve never ranked well for SEO. My front page has no text on so Google down-rates me. I don’t work at all to counteract that on individual posts and pages. So I’ll be returning to this course tomorrow to take it in better.

Iron stepped out of the bath and shook herself off. “We need to leave,” said Copper, filling her bag once again with supplies. The rumble of buildings collapsing up the road urged them into action.

Copper grabbed the map and looked for her sat-nav. She darted into the kitchen where she’d left it plugged in to charge and update.

Cursing herself for a silly mistake, as it was now in sync.

Ooo, now that’s one that works better over voice!

Iron Nick

Iron Nick was really quite cheesed off. His boss kept badgering him to work harder. He was getting pretty steamed up about it all.

Lucy, meanwhile, was egging Nick on. She advised him to tell the boss where to stick his lousy job.

It became so heated that the three of them got together to sort things out once and for all. If we can’t agree, the boss said, I’ll have to get the board to make a decision. Really, it’s Iron Nick. He must decide.

Sorry boss, Nick said, I quit. I have more pressing matters to attend to!

So this green-eyed lady is for this weeks #colour_collective. The colour this week is jade. She originally came from a sketchbook with purple eyes. Equally as creepy.
