Forest Floofs

“I’m tellin ya,” sighed Floofy, “when 2020 comes, we’re gonna have a year of bad vision puns.”

“That’s looking ahead,” replied Floof.

“I see what you did there,” laughed Floo.

“Bugger,” sighed Floofy.

I do like Floof. It’s the bestest of names. Tomorrow I have a collab with Marge and then next week I return to the usual Little Fears photo-doodles. I will be mixing in doodles like the Floofs as I go.

As with all of this week’s doodles, the forest Floofs are available over on my Etsy store. I’ve also dropped the price of a lot of my older original illustrations. If you’ve had an eye on one but the price has put you off, now’s the time to nobble. Linky: littlefears.etsy.com

The eyes have it

“The eyes have,” cried the speaker. “The eyes have it.”

The members of the house remained quiet, unable to watch as wooden hands emerged from the front bench, dragging her in. She let out a scream, silenced as her throat turned to wood.

The speaker looked to the empty place on the bench where the Prime Minister had sat. The fallen ministers returning his gaze. “The eyes have it,” he sighed.

As with all wee cards this week, The original drawing of The Eyes Have It is available on Etsy for £5. Linky: littlefears.etsy.com

After three years of cocking up and Brexit, the unelected Prime Minister, Theresa May, has finally been forced out by her own party. There are only two good things about her tenure. First, it takes grit to stand up and give speeches with that many knives sticking out of her back. Second, she’s better than Boris Johnson, who’s poised to take her position.

Hmm, that’s not really good things is it? Oh well, another squatter evicted from 10 Downing Street.

For those outside the UK who may not get the ‘eyes have it’ reference. ‘The ayes have it’ is a phrase used by the Speaker, Mr John Bercow, during parliament after vote results.

Sprint

“Botanica, mate,” said Ami, “what’s up?”

“I just chased a mugger out of my garden,” sighed Botanica.

“Oh dear,” replied Ami. “Did he steal anything from you?”

“My wallet,” grumbled Botanica. “He really gave me a run for my money.”

Fanfic

“Mate,” said Soil, “I tell ya now, I live for fiction about mud.”

“Nice,” said Sprite. “I live for fiction about alarm clocks.”

“Sounds a bit odd,” remarked Soil.

“It is,” sighed Sprite. “But it’s the only thing that gets me up in the morning.”

Milked

“It’s a lovely milkshake,” remarked Jelly. “But Theresa May’s barricaded herself in 10 Downing Street for the next week.”

“I see,” pondered Sprite. “Then we’re gonna need a bigger milkshake…”

Lordy, lordy!

For those that don’t follow British politics, we’ve recently taken to throwing milkshakes at hard-right politicians and we have the most unpopular Prime Minister in a million years who refuses to leave the office.

The absolute state of British politics today…

Moods

“What’s up?” asked Wobble.

“I’ve lost my mood ring,” grumbled Wibble.

“Oh dear,” replied Wobble. “I hope you’re not too upset.”

“Honestly,” sighed Wibble, “I don’t know how I feel…”

Damp Deerhound

“You look bummed, mate,” said Sprite.

“I am,” sighed Deerhound. “I slept in a puddle last night. Now the fur on my knee is all matted.”

“Sorry to hear that,” replied Sprite. “Hey, it could be worse. You could have your leg stuck in a hole in the ground filled with water.”

“Give it a break,” sighed Deerhound. “I know you mean well…”

HAH! Unusually subtle for me. Like yesterday, my tiny Fear is available on Etsy for £6 with free global postage. Linky: littlefears.etsy.com

When I posted yesterday, I looked at the panel and remembered why I don’t like the ultra short comic style for the Fears. Drawing out a story for maximum-groan is what causes my readers to cry out in pain when they read the punchline. Without the longer story side of it, readers are less likely to slam their heads on the desk, snap pencils or throw keyboards across the room.

It seems most people agree. That’s fine with me!

I was surprised at how many folks showed the love for my usual lo-fi photo with doodle on. My cockles were warmed. Cheers, rabble! So, mixing it up is the way forward. A little of this and a little of that, all within the Fears aesthetic and humour.

Although, this week, it’s all about the micro doodle.

Clouded Senses

I have no video today because it would be far too short. I’ll save this week’s tales up and put five into a single video.

Please do let me know if you prefer this style or my usual wordier stories and old style images. I only plan to do these for a week, but it’ll sure help knowing what is and isn’t liked in the future.

I’ll be selling this week’s doodles on Etsy. They’re only trading card size, but it’s a cheap way to nobble a Fears doodle. Linky: littlefears.etsy.com

Playing Time

Aha, those that follow me on social media may have noticed a change this weekend. I have been busy, yo! I’ve doodled up a new avatar for myself. It’s a self-portrait of sorts. Yes, I have small eyes, look generally confused and have a fabulous moustache.

I’ve also changed the header banners on all of my social platforms to Spider lurking behind a rocky outcrop. It’s a bit more ‘me’ than a vanilla ‘Little Fears’ written on a plain white background. I never liked that banner. I was just too lazy to change it.

I’ll be trying a more comic-format this week for the Fears. I’ve tried this before. It’s never quite worked. I got a pile of blank Strathmore ATC’s, and I’d like to do something interesting with them. So this week I’ll be applying my macro doodles to micro cards and giving them the typical Fears tales you all know. Just in an even shorter form.

If you enjoy this week’s panels, please do let me know. If you hate them and want wordier stories back, also let me know. Finally, if you simply want to declare your love of fuzzy llamas with moustaches, please do let me know!

A13

“At least I can take my mask off,” she grinned.

Article 13 hangs high in the sky over the Little Fears. Most photos I use are from Unsplash or photo packs from Creative Market. So the original photographs are replicated everywhere on the internet. If social networks use upload filters, man, that will that become a big fear.

Might be a good idea if I change the way I create daily images now instead of waiting to A13 to come into effect. I have some pictures I’ve already made still to use. But I’ll start sliding in some local and London photos along with stand-alone images.

Links for those that haven’t heard of Article 13.
